October 10, 2013

Welcome to the SPOOKY edition of

The Geoffrey Castle Newsletter

It's October, and suddenly there are pumpkins everywhere. What a month it was last month: Vienna, Beijing, Nashville…and now STANWOOD! Woo-hoo!

It's a big planet. But wherever I go, the fun lamp is lit!

If you're getting this for the first time, you're definitely not alone. If you're getting this for the 405th time, then you ROCK! Actually, I have no idea how many of these I've written. It might be fun to put them all together into some kind of bizarrely cheerful book, giving the world a chronological glimpse into what it's like to be a working independent musician. My Mom would love it, I'm sure, but she's read it already…. Ha ha. Hi Mom!

I really hope that everyone shares this newsletter and spreads the word around. I have to say though, that the word DOES seem to be getting around: I've been getting fan mail from all over the country from people who have somehow found me through the magic of Pandora, and Spotify. And YouTube.

I just put some of my stuff out there, and suddenly I have my own Pandora channel and I'm turning up on other people's channels like the genius modern composer Philip Glass's channel, for instance… just type "Geoffrey Castle" into your Pandora or Spotify options and see what happens!

I have pictures from all my travels, and some of them, eventually, will end up on my Web site, but if you want to see them all right now then come and follow me on Facebook. I update it almost daily, and there's stuff on there that you won't see anywhere else, including the occasional political rant by me, art work in progress by the mysterious Shannon Castle, and shared articles by my somewhat famous father.

Christmas? It's not supposed to be legal to talk about Christmas before Halloween, but I just heard a radio advertisement for my friends in the Trans-Siberian Orchestra, so I figure the gloves have now officially come OFF. And anyway, I'm psyched for this holiday season and this year's string of theater performances as I bring my Sixth Annual Celtic Christmas Celebration to the Northwest! Tickets are on sale already at the Kirkland Performance Center, and will be on sale soon for the theater at Central Washington University in Ellensburg, the Port Angeles Performing Arts Center, and the Event Center in Anacortes.

Music is the perfect gift this holiday season: buy tickets for family, friends, employees, total strangers, whatever makes you feel good, and give them an experience that will truly bring them into the spirit of the season!

This year will feature some refreshing changes, including: Beth Quist — Cirque du Soleil Lead Vocalist — returning as Queen of the Elves. Also:

  • Don Scobie – Highland Bagpipe Rocker
  • Aerialist Elves from Emerald City Trapeze Arts
  • Santa Claus (aka Mac MacDonald of Clan MacDonald, dontcha know…as the Old Elf Himself)
  • New Musicians! Including Jonathan Sindelman, Steve Boyce, T.J. Morris, Darin Watkins…

and lots more….
