Welcome to the Mid-May Update edition of

The Geoffrey Castle Newsletter

Hi there and welcome to the May update edition of my newsletter! if you're getting this newsletter for the first time, welcome! You are not alone…more people seem to be joining the list every day, and there are new folks from all over the country on the list, ordering CDs, and wondering when I'll be coming back to places like North Carolina, Arizona, Virginia, Michigan, and on and on across this beautiful nation and the world…

One of my main reasons for traveling across the country is to perform at schools, to help get kids excited about music, and to maybe convince school districts that cutting music budgets is not the brightest thing to do. It's a challenge, but I've always loved a challenge. Want me to come to YOUR school? Get in touch with my friends at Academic Entertainment. They're super friendly and way more organized than I am!

Speaking of education: I get asked quite often if I teach lessons. My life is way too crazy for the kind of regular schedule required for teaching, but lately some great opportunities have opened up that are giving students a chance to discover some of what I've learned from 30 years of playing electric and acoustic violin. I have the distinct honor of being invited to be a part of the illustrious faculty of Strings Without Boundaries this June at Central Washington University. This is a week long Master Class-style workshop residency where aspiring fiddlers can learn from the best players around. And me! <LOL> The workshops run from June 23 – June 28. Sign up now!

If you want a preview of what I'll be doing at the workshops at CWU, I will be doing a solo performance, and lecture at Hammond Ashley Violin Shop in Issaquah this coming Sunday May 19th! Bring your fiddle and be there by 4pm.

But wait, there's MORE on the teaching front: I will be performing at Lake Washington High School's amazing new auditorium at 7:30pm on Wednesday May 22nd in a special concert sponsored by the string program in Kirkland Middle School.

Do you know anyone in Kirkland, Redmond, Bothell, Kenmore, Bellevue who plays a stringed instrument? Or has a son or daughter who is playing music? I hope I'll see you there! If you know me by now, you'll already know that this will be fun for EVERYONE regardless of whether or not they're a fiddler…
