Educators

I have always been an advocate of community outreach performances—from college to kindergarten, it's always fun to go back to school! If you'd like to have me visit your school for assembly performances, and classroom workshops, get in touch with me or my friends at Academic Entertainment!

February 4, 2013

Welcome to the "Can you feel the LOVE?" February Edition of

The Geoffrey Castle Newsletter

February is the most romantic month of the year, and I've got some hot shows lined up just for you!

Before I get to the calendar though, I wanted to welcome all of you who are getting this for the first time. I write these myself — no nanobots involved — so I hope you enjoy reading my occasionally rambling, but ever hopeful scrawl….

First off, I want to send a big thank you to my friend David Harris who was kind enough to include me, along with an illustrious cast of amazing musicians in the Living Legends Showcase at the NAMM convention in Anaheim. I was on stage with so many amazing performers that I'm going to have to add a couple more pages to my resume just to fit them all in! <LOL> What a blast, and what an honor!

FACEBOOK
So whenever things like this amazing show happen, there are always photos, and they're always on my Facebook page first. Are you on Facebook? Subscribe to my pages - I've got two:

VALENTINE'S DAY
The perfect date night: www.BakesPlaceBellevue.com Featuring Josephine Howell. Have you heard her sing? OMG.

ST. PATRICK'S DAY
Many of you have gotten in touch and asked "are you playing your St. Patrick's Concert this year?" And the answer is YES!! Sometimes it takes me a while to get all my shows up on the Web site calendar…I get distracted. Get tickets NOW at www.kpcenter.org before they're all gone!

MUSIC
I've got a whole catalog of CDs loaded up onto my very own download store on my Web site. You can download CDs that are not available in print, download individual songs, choose different formats! It's all super easy. Want a real, hard copy CD? We can do that too!

VIDEO
The most exciting part about my latest CD release — Deep Well Sessions — is that each song was captured on video as it was being recorded. All the videos are now up on my YouTube Channel! Here's my version of "Wicked Game" by Chris Isaak, just in time for Valentine's Day! Enjoy.

ART
Some of you know who the REAL talent is in this relationship. My wife Shannon is an amazing talent, and this month she has her first ever gallery show in Seattle at the Alki Gallery at Harbor Steps! Visit her Facebook page and you can see photos of art that is in stock now and for sale!

ATTENTION CASTLE & SCHUSSLER FANS!
John Schussler, my partner on the New World and Captive albums, has a new solo album out: The Willow Ladder. All his exotic world instruments are on cinematic display, plus the sounds of Grammy winner Nancy Rumbel on oboe (of Tingstad & Rumbel fame), Eric Robert on piano and organ, and Brandon Mcintosh on sarod. He's also joined by the original rhythm section from our New World album: Garey Shelton on bass and Ben Smith on drums. If you enjoyed our work on New World and Captive, you definitely don't want to miss The Willow Ladder. Stream it for free (or buy the CD!) at www.johnschussler.com.

So, just to tease you all a little bit, I'm starting work on a couple of new CD projects, and guesting on another that I think will really amaze one and all. Lots of new music, and new gems from the vault, in 2013, I promise!

Let's get to the schedule

Tuesday, February 5
School Workshop and Concert
Bethpage, Long Island, New York

This is a party you do NOT want to miss! Everyone dresses up to the NINES with the ladies all trying to outshine each other with lavish gowns, masks, and hair… The entertainment is going to be equally amazing, with aerialists, vocalists (Rafe Perlman, and more) the debut of FRACTAL—the electronica project that I have been collaborating with—dancers, tarot card readers, jugglers, a veritable circus!

With lights by Michael Duncan, and DJ A.J. Sorbello (Foundation, Last Supper Club) keeping everyone dancing. It's an extravaganza. And it only happens once a year.

The perfect Valentine's Date Night? Call and make your reservations ASAP! And for all of you who make up your mind at the last minute, I have some advice for you: COME ANYWAY. Even if they tell you it's sold out. Here's what happened last time: the show was "sold out" with reservations, but then a whole bunch of those reservations didn't show up. So people who wanted to come got turned away, and we had empty tables. Solution? Make a reservation. If they tell you they're full, come anyway. :-) See you on Valentine's Day!! Oh, and if you haven't heard Miss Josephine sing, you are in for a REAL surprise. Lord have mercy.

If you've never seen Shannon's art before, this is a wonderful opportunity to get yourself introduced to her unique style. And since her art is for sale at the gallery and I'll have CDs there too, you can take us BOTH home with you!

Wow! You read all the way to the bottom of the newsletter! I love you for that! See you soon!
